Biofeedback Therapy
Biofeedback is a way of learning to control physical responses
that influence the healing process. Clinical biofeedback
techniques grew out of early laboratory procedures. We now
know that it is possible to train What was once considered
automatic responses of the body. For example, it is possible
through biofeedback to learn to control adrenaline secretion,
blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, body temperature,
and brain wave patterns. Biofeedback is painless, and
noninvasive.
Biofeedback can also decrease the stress response
associated with serious illness, pain disorders, and life
stressors. Biofeedback can also teach people who have lost
strength or function in a part of the body, to rebuild their
functioning.
Migraine headaches - tension headaches - bruxism - TMJ,
muscular pain - RSD - and many other types of pain -
Disorders of the digestive system - High blood pressure and its
opposite, low blood pressure - Raynaud's disease (a
circulatory disorder that causes uncomfortably cold hands) -
Paralysis and other movement dis-orders, neuromuscular
re-education for example - stroke - Attention Deficit Disorder -
are all treatable with biofeedback training.
Biofeedback in combination with hypnosis is a very powerful
combination that can enhance the healing process.
Biofeedback can help you learn to meditate and develop states
of deep physiological relaxation.
